Book Launchers is a full-service publishing company that helps aspiring authors turn their manuscripts into professionally published books. From writing and editing to design, marketing, and distribution, their team guides clients through every stage of the book publishing journey.
The Challenge: When Growth Depends on One Person’s Notebook
Before Process Street, Book Launchers operated as a tight-knit three-person team, but all project management lived in one person’s head and handwritten notes. When Jaqueline Kyle, their Project Manager (now Automation Expert), went on vacation, the company’s vulnerability became crystal clear.
What did life look like before Process Street?
“Before Process Street, we were basically a three-person company, and I was running every project myself. I went on vacation and when I came back Julie told me, you need to look at Process Street, because if something had happened to you, the company would have been in trouble. We had no visibility into my work or the status of any project. That moment pushed us to start documenting everything and building real transparency into how we operate.”

Without documented processes, scaling was risky. The team couldn’t confidently take on more clients or make new hires when critical knowledge existed only in notebooks and scattered spreadsheets. They needed a way to capture institutional knowledge, create transparency, and build systems that could scale with their ambitions.
What tools were you using before Process Street?
“Before Process Street, everything lived in pen and paper, Google Sheets, or Excel. Sarah and I were both a bit old school, so we tended to write things down. That was part of Julie’s concern. She joked that she’d have to break into my house just to figure out where a project stood. Nothing was centralized, nothing was documented in one place, and the spreadsheets were getting unwieldy.”

The Solution: A Swiss Army Knife for Publishing Operations
Book Launchers implemented Process Street as their central operating system, transforming how they documented, trained, and scaled their publishing operations. The platform became the single source of truth for every project, every process, and every team member.
Jaqueline leveraged Process Street’s most powerful features to build a sophisticated operation:
Datasets for Cross-Department Coordination: Rather than maintaining one massive checklist, Book Launchers created separate workflows for marketing, production, and writing departments—all connected through a master dataset. Each team only sees the tasks relevant to them, but everyone stays in sync through shared data.
“You have the ability to not have one gigantic checklist, but have multiple checklists that are all updating the same dataset and can stay in sync with each other,” Jaqueline explained. “The marketing department can only do something when production reaches a certain point. Then they get their checklist just for that one thing that is ready, they complete it, it updates the dataset, and it pulls back into the main production checklist.”
Automated Contract Management: Book Launchers uses AI tasks for mathematical calculations in contracts, eliminating manual errors and speeding up the contracting process. “We are word people, not math people,” Jaqueline noted. “Someone clicks the task, it tells them what the math is, they double-check it looks right, and move on.”
Client Portal Integration: The team built a deeply integrated client portal using Adalo, automatically populated with data from Process Street. Clients receive educational resources, pickup instructions for files, and all the information they need for their publishing journey—all triggered by workflow progress.
Contractor Onboarding at Scale: With standardized checklists, Book Launchers can now onboard contractors quickly and efficiently. “We can hire people quickly, take them through a checklist once, and then let them run wild,” Jaqueline said. “We’ll meet once a week and they can ask questions, but otherwise they have everything they need.”
How would you describe Process Street?
“I would say that Process Street is a Swiss Army tool of productivity. It has all of the pieces that you might need to be able to build a custom solution so that your business can run exactly as you want it to. That ability, especially if you want, as a business owner, for your vision to be executed in a very specific way—that you can be training people and documenting what the process is from the very beginning. There’s so much that you can automate within it that you are having people do only the things that people need to do, and automations can take care of the rest.”

“When we first started using Process Street in 2019, the platform looked very different. You’ve continued to release new features and improve year after year. The capabilities today are far beyond what we had when we began. In fact, the product has evolved so much that we’ve gone back and rebuilt some of our original processes to leverage the newer logic and functionality. It’s been a real benefit we didn’t anticipate.”
The Results: From 3 Employees to Managing 60+ Contractors

- Eliminated single points of failure in operations
- Created seamless handoffs between marketing, production, and writing teams
- Automated contract generation and mathematical calculations
- Built an integrated client portal experience powered by workflow data
Confident Growth: How Documentation Became Book Launchers’ Competitive Advantage
“Process Street gave us confidence to keep bringing on more clients and keep making hires, because we had the capacity to manage and control everything,” Jaqueline reflected. What started as a solution to eliminate risk became the foundation for sustainable growth.
Today, Book Launchers operates with complete transparency. If someone needs to take time off, whether for vacation or a family emergency, work continues seamlessly. The company has transformed from being dependent on individual knowledge to running on documented, repeatable processes that empower every team member.
For a publishing company built on helping authors tell their stories, Process Street helped Book Launchers write their own success story: one of intentional scaling, operational excellence, and the confidence to grow without breaking.
